INTRODUCTION ->

Team building is always aimed to develop or even create good qualities like teamwork,critical thinking, and a lots more. Different companies might have different objectives. What I would like to focus is on what kind of activities are they that promote or even develop all these good qualities? Here’s my story based on my own experience. Basically the teambuilding activities was done at Krabi Island, Thailand. Venues were the Pakasai resort which we stayed and also on the beaches as you can see my photos in my previous post on Krabi trip.

INITIALLY ->

everyone was devided into 4groups, Team leader were picked randomly managers and leads were not allowed to be team leades) Surprisingly pilotHans was chosen as team leader of the Red Team. I didn’t saw that coming! Haha. Okay. So basically everyone was divided into 4 teams which consists team Red, team Blue, team Green and team Yellow. so it was like a school merit/sports system where all the activities will be accumulated at the end of the challenges .

FIRST TASK ->

every team has to come with a

i) team name = red = Pink Panter

ii) warCry – that would be used throughout the teambuilding period. warCry was like a line that teams need to sing/shout when we were competing to others..if you guys watch rugby , it’s something like the Samoan dance thing with some words. Back during school days this was common!

iii) create their own Flags. As we were given rather pink color cloth rather then the red. I guess that’s why we called ourselves Pink Panter.

INDOOR GAMES AT PAKASAI RESORT ->

i) guess the movie game. One person needs represent a team. then he goes to pick up a movie name from a box. Then he makes the movement/gesture according to the movie. The objective of the game is for other team members to guess the movie that is been picked from the box.

ii) dance according to your choreographer. when the music stops everyone stops and the one with the wrong position like the choreographer is eliminated. > the choreographer selects the next choreographer to head the dance > and so on. > last man standing wins

iii) Make 4 perfect square with cut paper pieces . each team was given an envelope, in the envelope they was these cut papers. we need to combine it to make 4 perfect squares. Only the team leader could scout to other teams to get missing pieces or ideas on how to do it. sounds easy but believe me it was really tricky.

OUTDOOR GAMES ->

i) Caterpillar – each team had to q like a caterpillar > holding the front person’s waist …..the last person behind holds several balloons tight to each other..lets say 6balloons..

the objective – each team need to defend their balloon. The teams with the last not popped wins. So you either attack are defend. Teamwork really was tested during this activity. It’s really hard to move when you depend on the whole line of 12 people or more.

ii) treasure hunt. After island hopping, we were on this small island.

objective : Every team had to collect 20 items within 25minutes.

example of items that were assigned to find were :

-10 different types of leaves,

-a hot local gal/chick

-coconut husk,

-lifejacket/snokle items ,

-cracker paper,

-toilet tissue,

-business card of a local residence,

and some weird stuff thats really hard to get on an island.

To win – the team that collects the most items within the time frame wins. bonus marks for teams which finish early

iii) crawl under a team member that lays on the beach

objective – 1 member lays on the beach, others need to create a hole under the person laying without sinking the person. > all members have to crawl under the tunnel/hole created. The 1st team with all members crawled under the laying person wins.

iv) dress up a team member as red indian – team with most creative model/dress wins

CONCLUSION ->

(the winning team ^_^)

at the end of the 4days they was the scoring board, just like the ones at school during our “Hari Sukan” @ “sports day” I was the leader of team red. So the ranking we showed in the gardens of the resort.

I guess the team spirit was gained, new friends were made. They were a lot more interesting activities that I can’t remember(maybe those who can, can add..hehe) overall it was a success.

OTHER photos ->

the island hopping..you can see the sea at both sides..basically we can walk between to separated island during low tide. Click here to read my Krabi Island trip story.(warning – as page is full of photo’s it may take a while for those with slow connections)

TO THINK ABOUT ->

i) what other interesting teambuilding activities that you have experienced?

ii) does team buildings really help/motivate an individual?

iii) do you guys like teambuildings or you just enjoy the free travel trips?

iv) any disagreement or stuff that I said, you are free to quote with your explanations

p/s i’ll update this post with more photo’s tonight As for now I hope you enjoyed my entry^_^

cheers

53 years ago. First of all, Happy Independence day to all Malaysians. 53 years has passed since we archived independence on 31 august 1957. So what does Independence really mean to us? Are we really independent not just physically but mentally? They are backstreet stories of us being independent mentally and physiologically. The way we think. Is it independent? Are we nurturing our own values?

In general, Independence means

1) the freedom to decide or separate ourselves from personal ideologies and also intellectually challenge ourselves to see the full scope of an issue in order to find real solutions for the good of the whole.

2) being able to choose to empower ourselves with the information to independently make up our own minds in own ways with our own terms on our own time frame.

3) creating a world class society in which we can perceive nations through a satellite view, rather than a microscopic view, and make value judgments based on what’s good for the future, rather than the present.

4) We must not depend on the opinions of others, but on the factual issues and actions of individuals and our governments that we have elected fairly with democracy.

5) we have the freedom to pursue personal needs while choosing global motivations, and face the consequences of those actions, both wonderful and tragic, with the intent to learn, grow, and gain wisdom.

6) True independence means recognizing that every type of thought and belief system has something to teach, to offer, and that if we learn from those in our world, our chances of creating real change for the betterment of all increases exponentially.

7) Being able to choose for ourselves, to plan our lives and to execute what we want within our own rules set by our own parliament.

8 ) Wisdom demands for us to further our own independence by freeing ourselves from the prison of personal experience by embracing realities other than our own and thereby freeing ourselves from the shackles of ignorance and opening up our minds to new things that has globalize this planet.

My hopes/wishes

To those Independence patriots, I salute you. Without them we are not where we are today, living our lives as we are. (yeah, there surely room for improvements here and there) .

I would also hope we remain Independence for generations to come. To my Malaysian viewers, I would like to shout out to you guys, let’s show our Jalur Gemilang flag, and share some spirit. Remember, without Independence they won’t be Freedom. As our fight and goals have changed throughout the years we should never take for granted of our independence. I hope , at least the cry of Independence would be heard for generations to come. But if one day my country needs me to fight for it, I’ll be available without any doubt! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA!
