I’ve just watched the golden globe award movie “In Bruges” or pronounced “Brugge” in flemish. Basically a good film. It’s about two hitman that plots in Bruges a medieval preserved town in Belgium. At last, a movie where I have personally been too. I can say I’ve been to 90 percent of the place (the canal, the street, the bridge, the art galleria, the city square ,Onze Lieve Vrouweker, I’ve just not been to the hotel they were staying in) Normally a hitman movie you expect action, this time it’s more words. Anyway in this movie it brought a sense of reality and you would believe that things like this really happen as sounded like a real life story.
The story starts with two hitman ray and Ken which were ordered to stay low in Bruges after a hitman job in London. They had to wait for a phone call from their boss for next orders. As a cover they did some sightseeing in the town as if they were normal tourist. You can really see the well preserved medieval buildings in Bruges. Actually I’ve always wanted to post a topic on Bruges a long time ago. Someday, I need to scan my pictures from my previous Bruges trip. One could only enjoy the gothic architecture, canals, and cobbled streets, the stone streets. Well, back to the movie. The plot of the movie was good. The only -ve was the swearing. But hey, what kind of language do you expect to hear from people who kill people for a living? Precisely.
RAY was suffering from the last job where he accidentally killed a kid. He even went suicidal. One day RAY, one of the hitman meet a hot Belgian babe(chloe, a small drug dealer) doing an Europe film along with some midget. You could hear some racist comments when they were high on drugs, also some Netherlands prostitutes “RAY : Amsterdam! Amsterdam’s just a lot of bloody prostitutes, isn’t it? Denise :Yes, that’s why I came to Bruges. Been trying to get a better price for my pussy here. ” The dialogues in this movie were all honest and straight forward. So when the call come in, their boss ordered Ken to kill his partner RAY because he was going over his head over the kid incident. The purpose their boss (a London mob) ask them to stay in Bruges was he had wanted Ray to see how nice Bruges was before he died.
In the end, Ken couldn’t kill Ray, and the boss had to come from London to Bruges to take the matters in his own hands. So when the boss of the hitmant went to get some guns from Yuri(one of his man in Bruges who gave him a huge choices of guns) “An Uzi? I’m not from South Central Los Angeles. I didn’t come here to shoot twenty black ten year olds in a drive-by. I want a normal gun for a normal person.” haha. Then, the blood fest began.
