tribute to butterfingers

Posted by pilotHans on August 27, 2010 in Yohan's Music Factory

To all the butterfingers fans out there, please stand up! Butterfingers (malaysian underground band) is a grunge band that I followed since the beginning of their music back in the mid 90s. Their songs are among those songs that accompany my life. Yeah back to memory lane for those babies of the 80′s.

This band surely doesn’t need any introduction to the Malaysian underground fans as it’ has achieved legend status by many…. I’ve been listening to them ever since i entered boarding school sometime in 96…Those were the days without mp3, ipods or even laptops….One had to listen to music via cassettes or the radio…..Back then it was Butterfingers, OAG, xpdc, subculture……Austratralian band Silverchair….Greenday (owh my, don’t get me started), OffSpring and a lot more….

In the early stages they were influenced by nirvana (sorry for generalizing) . They are seem to sound more like silverchair in certain tracks buy hey, I like it.I have all their cassettes up till malayneum. I miss those Walkman Era/times ^_^ those were the days…

One of their best songs that I like,  I give you Chemistry ->

Here’s a gig from them. This one is live taken by an amateur cameraman ->

Same song with a better Sound Quality but low video. sorry.

here are my Butterfingers cassettes list that I  own (Not for sale) :

1996 – 1.2 Milligrams – bought in 1996 or was it 97 (used to borrow from my friend)
1997 – Butter Worth Pushful – bought in 1999 on my birthday (used to borrow)
1999 – Transcendence – bought in 1999
2000 – Butter Late then never – bought in 2000
2001 – Malayneum -bought in 2001

CDs/downloads :
2003 The Best Is Yet To Come
2005 – Selamat Tinggal Dunia
2008 – Kembali

Live performance I’ve seen of them ->

+ the only time I’ve seen them was like in 2006 Sure Heboh Carnival Concert in conjunction of the launching of the local music portal Gua.Com at bkt jalil. (maybe one day I’ll upload to my youtube account, we’ll see) Yeah, after joining their forums n all I should have attended more gigs…

+There was once the Kembali showcase that I nearly went at hardrock but I end up not making it.

My greatest regrets ->

+missing their last show at Istana Budaya,KL Jan 2009.

My Wishes ->

+I would personally thank Emmet, Loque, Kadak, Loko and kalai for their inspiring music!

+I guess if I have some buddies with the same interest I would love to see them perform/gig.

Being Thankful

Posted by pilotHans on August 22, 2010 in My Stories, Spiritual

They are many times in our daily lives that we take things for granted.  Sometimes we just don’t notice on how lucky we are! Amazingly some facts are too stunning to believe . Just you reading this article makes you ahead that  nearly 1/2 the population of our current human kind( from the 6.8 billion current human population)

It’s always about what we don’t have not what we have. It’s always about what we want not what we really need. Sometimes its a good thing to remind of ourselves on how lucky we are.

Have you ever prayed and be thankful , for the great meal you have in front of you? Have you ever thought about millions around the world are starving everyday? That’s what Ramadan or fasting teaches a Muslim. It teaches a Muslim to think about the less fortunate/the poor. Imagine having to forcefully fast or starve just not because we don’t have enough money to buy food? We are still lucky to fast and have good food during breaking of our fast. We have buffets, steamboats, lavish dinners, Ramadan markets and a lot more then we can eat.  To Muslims, have you ever break your fast at mosques with unfortunate people around you? You could easily differentiate them and see on how happy they are to get free food.

That’s why  we always have to remember that out there, they are people who are less fortunate then us. Life is indeed difficult but we always need to be more thankful on what we have and focus more on what we need, instead on what we want. It’s now wrong to want something, but it’s better to start to think about others too.

Remember,  in the end, life is about “US” not “ME”.

p/s no more buffets for pilotHans for this month. Once is enough ^_^ personally thanks to the person who treated us during the Bebenang LYN’s at Flaming Steamboat, Sunway yesterday.

El Nido Philippines

Posted by pilotHans on August 16, 2010 in Scuba Diving, travel trips

I just want to share with you guys  a beautiful group of islands in the Philippines. Here I would specifically introduce El Nido @ palawan islands to the world. I guess many island lovers would already know this, but maybe some of my viewer would never heard of this place.

And it’s surely deserves to be in any diver list to dive. Here are among the photos that I want to share with you guys. Unfortunately I don’t own them, but hopefully one day I will ^_^  (just click on the photos for Full Size of the image to make it as a wallpaper perhaps) so enjoy ->

It’s basically located in the province of Palawan in the Philiphines, I think it’s still a hidden gem since I bet not many people are aware of it’s beauty, or it’s only me.haha. Here’s the map to Elnido islands ->

Coordinates: 11°20?N 119°41?E

Simply breath taking view don’t you guys agree? Maybe some other time I’ll share with you guys some other photos. Till my next island review. Adios!
