The dominance of English teams apparently could undermine the promotional value of the competition, I must admit. If this were so, it was still the worst refereeing I have seen in years. Chelsea perhaps played against the man in black (not Barcelona) and no one can beat the man in black. If this (stopping Chelsea) was not the referee's intention, he should be advised take to refereeing boxing - and not spoil the beautiful game for its ardent fans.
